World champion cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten came across a friendly spectator during her training for the UCI World Cycling Championships.
The 40-year-old Dutch star bumped into a Highland Cow during a cycle in the Netherlands.
The Tour De France Femmes and Giro Donne winner encountered the animal as she was riding through a park in her native country in preparation for the “mega event” being held across Scotland.
Van Vleuten said that was in honour to wear the Rainbow Jersey in her last year, but insisted the championships will not be her last race.
The Women’s Elite Individual Time Trial race took place in Glasgow on Thursday with US rider Chloe Dygert winning goal.
After dominating the women’s individual pursuit on the Track, Dygert turned her attention to the road and narrowly held out to win her second individual time trial world title.
Only New Zealand’s Grace Brown came close, but a strong surge at the end of her ride wasn’t enough to unseat the American.
The UCI World Championships reported Van Vleuten’s encounter with the Highland Cow on Thursday, saying: “Reigning world champion Annameik van Vleuten bumps into a friendly face on a training ride.
“Rainbow jersey might be a bit too small for you, Coo”
