A missing woman who sparked a police search has been found “safe and well”.

Officers appealed for the public’s help to track down Audrey Colquhoun after she failed to return home on Friday.

The 52-year-old, from East Lothian, was last seen at her home in Prestonpans at around 9.20am that morning.

Investigating officers later established that her car – a blue Citroen DS3 – was travelling on the A1 between Haddington and Dunbar shortly after 12.35pm on Saturday.

Her disappearance was described as “completely out of character”.

Police appealed for her to get in touch.

On Sunday afternoon, the force confirmed that Ms Colquhoun was traced “safe and well” in the Borders.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Thanks to everyone who shared or otherwise helped with our earlier appeals for information.”
