Armed robbers have stolen items including a PlayStation 3 and games during a raid on a flat.

Police said two men entered the property on Melville Street, Lochgelly, at about 2pm on Sunday and presented what appeared to be a small gun.

The two male occupants of the flat were then robbed. No shots were fired. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, saying both men spoke with local accents.

The first suspect is described as white, around 5ft 9in, slim built and in his 30s He had short black hair and was wearing a black hooded top, blue jeans and a dark woollen hat.

The second suspect is also white, around 5ft 6in, of medium build and aged in his mid-20s. He was wearing a light-coloured hooded top and orange scarf.

Detective inspector Des FitzGerald, of Fife CID, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area yesterday, particularly anyone who fits these descriptions.

"Similarly, if you have been offered a Playstation 3 for sale, we would like to speak to you."

Cowdenbeath community inspector Ian Stephen said: “ We recognise the impact this will have on local residents and we will have high-visibility patrols in the Melville Street area of Lochgelly for the time being.

"Anyone with information or concerns can speak to one of the officers on patrol or contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
