Former US President Donald Trump will launch his own social media platform called TRUTH Social, he has announced.
The app, currently available to pre-order on Apple’s App Store, will go live for invited users in November before being opened to the public at the beginning of 2022.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American President has been silenced,” Trump said.
Trump’s announcement comes after social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, banned or suspended him for violating their policies.
TRUTH Social is to be launched by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which he chairs, and will also offer an on-demand video streaming service.
The network’s website describes itself as: “America’s ‘Big Tent’ social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”
