Tributes have poured in for Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez following the death of their baby son.

The news was revealed in a message from the couple that appeared on the Manchester United forward’s social media accounts on Monday evening.

Current and former players, journalists, and football clubs have paid tribute to the couple following the tragic announcement.

The tributes were lead by Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, who posted on Instagram: “I love you and my heart is all there on this side… may God take care of everything and strengthen your path more and more…

“Our little angel is already in her father’s lap, and our little girl who is here firm and strong and full of health will teach us more and more that only love matters…”

Manchester United teammate and England forward Marcus Rashford said: “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother. I’m so sorry.”

Former England forward and presenter Gary Lineker offered his support by tweeting: “Terribly sad news. Sincere condolences to you and your family.”

The Portuguese forward’s club Manchester United sent a message of support to the family, saying: “Your pain is our pain. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”

Current Premier League champions Manchester City replied to the post, saying: “Everyone at Manchester City sends our deepest condolences to you and Georgina.”, while Liverpool FC left a message which read: “All of us here at Liverpool FC send our deepest condolences to you, Georgina and the family.”

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt, replied to Ronaldo’s post with three praying emojis.

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish said: “Sending our heartfelt condolences to you and your family for your unimaginable loss.”

And Brazilian icon Cafu added: “My prayers for you and your family. May God comfort and give you strength. A hug from friend Cafu.”

Piers Morgan added on Instagram: “Heartbreaking news. My deepest condolences to you and all your family,” before tweeting: “Desperately sad news”.

Ronaldo, who has been dating Rodriguez since 2016, announced in a social media post last October that the couple were expecting twins.
