A 12-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 60-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car in Sheffield on Wednesday.
South Yorkshire Police discovered Marcia Grant’s body after it was struck by a car in the Greenhill area at around 7.10pm on April 5.
The boy was found shortly afterwards and arrested on suspicion of murder as well as suspected possession of a knife.
The 12-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been charged with murder and will appear before Sheffield Youth Court on April 8.
A statement by Ms Grant’s family described her as a “warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of her community”.
“Her loss has already sent shockwaves through all who knew her or was lucky enough to be included in her orbit,” it continued.
“We ask for privacy at this time while further investigations are underway and the family try to come to terms with this enormous loss.”
