A man has been arrested after several men in political circles were targeted in a honeytrap plot.
The Metropolitan Police said the suspect was held in Islington, north London, on Wednesday accused of harassment and offences under the Online Safety Act.
An investigation was launched in April after it was suggested that at least 12 men in political circles had received unsolicited messages in a sexting scam.
Then-senior Tory MP William Wragg resigned the Conservative whip after he admitted giving politicians’ phone numbers to a suspected scammer.
