Hundreds of EasyJet flights have been cancelled or delayed due to a system failure.

The airline was forced to halt around 200 journeys on Thursday afternoon while a team of specialists work to resolve the IT issue.

Travellers have been urged to check their journey on the firm’s Flight Tracker to see if their service has been affected.

It is not yet clear how long the disruption is expected to continue for.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Our team of IT specialists are working to restore the systems as soon as possible.

“We advise customers due to travel with us today to continue to check flight tracker to check the status of their flight before making their way to the airport.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers for their patience as we work to resolve this as soon as possible.”

Many travellers have taken to social media to voice their frustrations with one saying their flight was cancelled last-minute.

Others said they were struggling to speak to staff members at airports, including Edinburgh, about their cancellations.
