A youth was taken to hospital after being assaulted in Kilmarnock town centre.
Police were called to the town’s High Street at around 6.20pm on Monday after receiving reports of an assault.
Emergency services took the male youth to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
His current condition is unknown.
Kilmarnock Bus Station was closed to members of the public while police carried out enquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 6.20pm on Monday, October 24, we received a report that a male youth had been seriously assaulted at High Street in Kilmarnock.
“He has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for Stagecoach West Scotland said: “Due to an incident in Kilmarnock Town Centre, buses will not serve Kilmarnock Bus Station this evening. Buses will continue to operate and will serve stops nearest to the station.
“To support @AyrshireEPolice we would ask that members of the public do not attend the bus station at this time. We will post an update when the station reopens. We appreciate your patience at this time.”
