Woman rushed to hospital following early morning street attack

A 23-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital after being seriously assaulted in Greenock on Tuesday morning.

A woman has been left in hospital after being seriously assaulted on a street in Greenock.

Police were called to the junction with Sinclair Street, around 12.05am on Tuesday.

Emergency services took a 23-year-old woman to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.

There remains a police presence in the area as officers provide community reassurance and investigate the full circumstances of the incident.

Detective inspector Nikki Wake, from Greenock CID, said: “We’d like to thank those members of the public who have contacted police already, and are asking for anyone else with information to please come forward.

“If you saw anything suspicious in the Weir Street or Sinclair Street areas, or believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 0010 of June 6, 2023.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
