Woman taken to hospital after attack by 'bulldog type' dog

Bothwell Post Office issued a notice warning customers that the dog had attacked a puppy before attacking the puppy's owner.

A woman has been taken to hospital after being attacked by a “bulldog type” dog in South Lanarkshire.

The incident is reported to have happened at around 8am on Friday in the Silvertrees area of Bothwell.

Bothwell Post Office issued a notice on social media warning customers that the dog had attacked a puppy before attacking the puppy’s owner leaving her with an injury to her face.

“This morning at about 8am – 8.15am, bulldog/bully type dog got off its owner’s leash and attacked a puppy,” the statement said.

“Whilst trying to separate the dogs, the owner of the puppy was bitten in the face.”

The Post Office urged people to “be careful” and “alert” all dog owners in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.40am on Friday, February 9, we were made aware of a woman being attacked by a dog in the Silvertrees area of Bothwell.

“The woman attended at hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
