Woman left seriously injured after ‘stabbing at home’

A 42-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A woman has been left seriously injured in an alleged early morning knife attack.

The 42-year-old was taken to hospital with stab wounds following a disturbance at a South Lanarkshire property on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene in the Pembroke area of East Kilbride at around 7.30am.

A 44-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and the injured woman was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

Medical staff have described her condition as serious but not life threatening.

The area remains cordoned off with a high police presence in attendance.

A spokesman for the force said: “We received a report of a disturbance at a property on Pembroke, East Kilbride shortly after 7.30am on Monday.

“A 42-year-old woman was taken to Wishaw General Hospital following the incident. Her injuries are serious but not believed to life threatening.

“A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
