Woman in critical condition after hit and run as police hunt driver

A woman has been left in a critical condition after being injured in a hit and run in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the Bell Street area of the city, near Parsonage Square, at around 11.50pm on Saturday after a woman was struck by a red car.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Her condition has been described as critical.

The car involved in the collision failed to stop and extensive enquiries have been launched to trace the vehicle and its occupants.

Sergeant Paul Mellis of the Road Policing Unit said: “The car failed to stop at the time and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the car and its occupants.

“This is a busy area and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident take place, who has not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information or any personal footage that may assist our investigation to contact us through 101 quoting reference number 4941 of June 10.”
