A woman has died and two men have been taken to hospital following a house fire which broke out in the early morning in Cumbernauld.
Emergency services were called to reports of a blaze at a property on Glen Fyne Road at around 6.25am on Friday.
A 79-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men, aged 82 and 50 years old, were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incident.
Six fire engines and an aerial height appliance were mobilised to deal with the blaze and the road was closed to the public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.25am on Friday, July 1, to a report of a house fire in Glen Fyne Road, Cumbernauld.
“Emergency services attended and a 79-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Two men, aged 82 and 50, were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
