A woman has died and two people have been taken to hospital after a crash in Ayrshire.
Police were called to the A70 westbound, near Ayr, at around 5.55am on Friday after receiving reports of a collision between a car and a van.
The driver of the van, a 46-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services took the male driver of the car to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and the female passenger of the van to Crosshouse Hospital.
Thier current conditions are unknown.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a two-vehicle crash, involving a car and a van, on the A70 westbound near Ayr around 5.55am on Friday, October 28, 2022.
“Emergency services attended, however a 46-year-old woman, the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The male driver of the car was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and the female passenger of the van was taken to Crosshouse Hospital.
“The road has now reopened following full collision investigation work.”
