Suspect charged after woman 'punched in the face in taxi queue'

Police said a 43-year-old woman was charged following the alleged incident on Stirling Street in Airdrie in July 2021.

A woman has been charged in connection with a serious assault in North Lanarkshire. 

The incident occurred on Stirling Street in Airdrie on Saturday, July 10 last year at around 10.45pm, where a woman was allegedly punched in the face while waiting in a taxi queue.

The victim was treated for a serious facial injury at University Hospital Monklands following the alleged assault.

On Tuesday, police confirmed a 43-year-old woman had been charged in connection with the incident.

Police added that the woman is expected to appear in court at a later date.
