Woman allegedly left teenage boy 'disfigured' in attempted murder

The 16-year-old remains in a 'serious' condition in hospital after the alleged attack near the St Enoch Centre.

A woman has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a teenage boy.

Paula Macauley, 41, allegedly assaulted the 16-year-old near Glasgow’s St Enoch Centre on August 4, 2023.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 9.30pm before the boy was taken to hospital.

His condition has been described as serious.

Macauley appeared at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

She made no plea and was represented by her lawyer Jim Sloan.

Court papers state that the alleged attack was to the boy’s severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

Macauley was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.

She will appear at court again within the next eight days.
