Police are seeking witnesses to a murder bid after two men were left with serious injuries in Ayrshire.

Officers were called to Forde Crescent at Hyslop Road, Stevenston, at around 12.40am on July 8, and two men were found with severe injuries.

A 28-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and has since been discharged.

A second 29-year-old man was treated at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and has since been discharged.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder and said they are following positive lines of enquiry.

Detective sergeant Peter Sweeney, North Ayrshire CID, said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the attack and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area between 12.20am and 1am to come forward to police.

“Forde Crescent is a residential area and I am sure people would have either seen or heard the disturbance outside.

“If you have not yet come forward to police and may have information that could help our investigation, including dashcam or doorbell footage, then please call police via 101.

“Please quote incident number 0170 of Saturday, July 8, when calling. Details can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
