Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was sexually assaulted on a train.

The girl was targeted while travelling between Balloch and Airdrie stations on Saturday, July 3.

She was approached by a man at around 4.38pm on the service towards Airdrie.

During the journey the man sexually assaulted her and made inappropriate remarks towards her.

He then got off the train at Charing Cross station at 5.30pm with a group of other men.

The man is described as a white man in his 60s, around 5’7 in height and of large build. He had grey, curly hair and was wearing a psychedelic print t-shirt with shorts and round sunglasses at the time, displaying tattoos with writing and stars.

At the time of the incident the service was very busy with passengers, officers want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it to assist their enquiries.
