A two-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy are among four people who were rushed to hospital following a two-car collision in Dumfries.
Emergency services were called out to the C11n Dumfries to Auldgirth road, north of Kirkton village, at around 9.10am on Wednesday to reports of a crash between a black Audi A6 and a black BMW 1 Series.
A four-year-old male passenger from the Audi was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where he remains for treatment.
Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
The 35-year-old female driver of the Audi, her two-year-old female passenger and the 52-year-old male driver from the BMW were all taken to the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe their condition as stable.
The road was closed for several hours before reopening later in the morning.
Constable Callum Kingstree said: “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would appeal to any motorists in that area to contact us with any information they may have.
“If anyone has any dash cam footage, please pass it on as it could assist our enquiries”.
