Two teenagers have been robbed after being threatened by a gang in a lane behind a train station in South Lanarkshire.
The 17 and 18-year-old were walking on Douglas Park Lane behind Hamilton West Train Station on Saturday when they were approached by five youths just after 7pm.
The gang threatened the teens with violence and robbed them of personal items before members of the public came to their assistance.
The group then fled in the direction of Hamilton Academical Football Ground with the victims left uninjured but “badly shaken”.
Police are now appealing for witnesses in a bid to catch those responsible who are described as men aged between 16 and 21.
One was wearing a blue jacket with grey jogging bottoms, with the rest were in dark clothing.
They were also all wearing face masks and two are believed to have been in possession of bikes.
Detective Constable Steven Totten from Cambuslang CID said: “Members of the public who were passing by came to the assistance of the victims, who were left badly shaken by what happened.
“This type of aggressive and intimidating behaviour is not acceptable and I am appealing to anyone, who can assist us in identifying the individuals involved, to come forward.
“If you were in the area and noticed a group matching the above description, or anything at all suspicious, please get in touch.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101.”
