Two teenagers have been arrested after a 23-year-old man died following a shooting in Utah.

Rory Swimm, who lived in Vail, was shot in the early hours of Friday morning in Salt Lake City.

The half Scot, whose mother is originally from Glasgow, recently returned to Scotland in August, visiting Fife with family.

A spokesperson for Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) confirmed that two 15-year-old juveniles had been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Swimm’s murder.

A members of the community called 911 in the early hours of Friday morning after noticing someone on the ground.

Emergency services responded, but despite life-saving efforts from paramedics, Mr Swimm died at the scene.

Detectives with SLCPD said that the shooting does not appear to be “random” saying they believe the suspects “were out looking for Swimm and his friends after an argument occurred earlier in the morning”.

Following search warrants, detectives with the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Homicide Squad booked two suspects into the Salt Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.
