A police officer has reportedly been left with a serious head injury following a 'disturbance'.

Police say two officers have been left injured after allegedly being attacked by a man with a baseball bat in Renfrewshire.

One of the officers reportedly suffered a serious head injury during the alleged attack that took place in Paisley on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the town’s Murray Street at around 3.30pm following reports of a man causing a disturbance with a weapon.

The force claim the officers were assaulted in Gallow Green Road.

A 27-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “No members of the public were injured.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
