Two men have been hospitalised following a “disturbance” at a flat in Dumfries in the early hours of the morning.
Police attended the incident at Church Street in the town shortly after midnight on Wednesday, May 25 after calls from neighbours.
Emergency services were later called to the property to treat injuries to two men, aged 29 and 35 respectively, before both were taken to hospital for further examination.
The 29-year-old has since been transferred to a different medical facility in Edinburgh, according to officers.
It is thought there were others inside the flat at the time of the disturbance.
An appeal has now been launched to trace them and anyone else who may have information on the incident.
Police have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries as part of the investigation and are in the process of reviewing relevant CCTV footage.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Detective inspector Graeme Robertson said: “We believe there were other people in the flat around the time of the disturbance and I am appealing to them to contact us as they could have vital information which could assist our enquiries.”
DI Robertson added: “I would also like to ask local residents who may have heard a disturbance or who may have seen something suspicious to get in touch with us. It’s imperative we establish exactly what has happened here.”
