Two men taken to hospital after assault near shopping centre

A 34-year-old man remains in a stable condition following the incident in Glasgow on Wednesday night.

Two men were taken to hospital after being assaulted during an altercation in Glasgow city centre.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Wednesday in St Enoch Square, with the men – aged 34 and 36 – taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The 36-year-old was later discharged but the younger man remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened and in particular want to trace a man seen leaving the scene.

Detective constable Craig Muir said: “The area around St Enoch Square and the shopping centre entrances were busy at the time of this incident and we would like anyone who saw something suspicious to come forward.

“The altercation may have taken place near the Argyle Street entrance to St Enochs across from Buchanan Street.

“If you can help with our inquiries, please call 101.”
