Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of vehicles from the University Hospital Ayr.
NHS staff had a car and a van stolen with an attempt on a third vehicle in the Ayrshire hospital’s car park on Friday, February 12.
On March 19, police raided two addresses in Irvine, North Ayrshire, and arrested a 39-year-old and a 38-year-old.
Officers from the Divisional Acquisitive Crime Team executed warrants on Montgomery Street and Parterre in the town.
Police Scotland said a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal for the men’s alleged offences.
Detective chief inspector Mick Carr, of the Divisional Acquisitive Crime Team, said: “Officers from Ayrshire have worked alongside our partners and the community in order to gather information relating to these incidents. This partnership approach has resulted with the positive arrest of two males.
“Combating acquisitive crime remains a top priority for policing here in Ayrshire. We will continue our efforts to target those whose criminality causes angst within the community.”
“I appeal to members of the community to continue to work with the police and provide any information that they have on those who carry out these crimes.
“If you have any information on any issues within your local community please contact your Local Police by calling 101 (always 999 in an emergency) or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
