A man has been left fighting for his life following a disturbance in North Lanarskhire.

The 60-year-old was found badly injured by emergency services who attended an address on Sikeside Street, Coatbridge just after midnight on Thursday.

He was taken by ambulance to Monklands District Hospital where medical staff have described his condition as critical.

Police were also called to the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance at around 00.25am on Friday.

Two men, aged 24 and 55-years-old, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A police investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 00.25am on Friday police were called to an address on Sikeside Street, Coatbridge, where a 60-year-old man was found seriously injured. 

“He was taken by ambulance to Monklands District General Hospital where he remains for treatment and medical staff have described his condition as critical.

“Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are continuing.”
