A 71-year-old toilet attendant in Troon has been left “distressed” after he was attacked by three hooded men.

The incident happened around 1.30pm on August 28, near a bus stop on North Shore Road in the town.

Shortly before, the male attendant had challenged three men who were in a cubicle inside some public toilets on the same street.

He had asked them to leave, after which the trio followed him out and pushed him to the ground, kicking and striking his body.

They are all described as being white and of skinny builds. All three are believed to have been wearing hoodies and one was wearing a puffer jacket on top.

One wore a balaclava or something similar on his face.

Inspector Ian McColl said: “This was a distressing incident for the man involved and we are continuing with extensive enquiries to identify the others involved.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area to get in touch.

“Two passing cyclists also came to the man’s aid but left before giving their details. If this was you please get in touch as you may be able to help with our investigation.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2048 of August 28, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
