Boat abandoned on M8 at Kingston Bridge causing traffic chaos

Part of the M8 had to be closed after a boat was deserted in a lane on the Glasgow bridge.

Part of a busy city motorway had to be closed on Monday afternoon after a boat was abandoned in the middle of the road.

The vehicle was deserted on the M8, on the Kingston Bridge, in Glasgow.

It was first seen on lane one of the busy motorway at around 12.44pm, causing the road to be closed westbound as police removed the boat.

The road reopened again at around 1pm, as Traffic Scotland confirmed the removal of the abandoned vehicle.

Traffic Scotland said: “Lane one blocked Westbound on the Kingston Bridge due to an abandoned boat.

“A slight build up on the approach.”

They later added: “All lanes now running Westbound on the Kingston Bridge following the removal of an abandoned boat.”

Police Scotland confirmed that the boat had come off a trailer.
