Two teenagers have been charged in connection with an attack that left a woman in hospital in Kirkintilloch.

The 16 and 17 year olds, who cannot be named, were charged with “a number of offences” in relation to the incident, according to Police Scotland.

The 41-year-old victim required emergency treatment following the assault at a home in the Townhead area.

Paramedics attended following reports that a woman was injured within the property.

She was later transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in a “serious” condition.

The youths are set to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

A Police Scotland statement said: “Two male youths have been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault on a woman in Kirkintilloch.

“The incident happened around 11.55pm on Thursday, 21 July at Townhead in the town.

“A 41-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to a serious injury.

“The two males, 17 and 16, have been charged with a number of offences and are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.”
