A teenager has been charged following the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy in Kilmarnock.
Officers were called to the town’s Soulis Street at around 6.15pm on Monday, after receiving reports of an attack.
Emergency services took the boy to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, where he is now in a serious but stable condition.
Police have now confirmed a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
