A teenager has been arrested after a man was left in hospital after a “stabbing” in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to Cumbernauld’s Ash Road at around 8.15pm on Friday after receiving reports of a serious assault.

A 23-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance. His current condition is unknown.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue.

A spokesperson said: “Around 8.15pm on Friday, May 3, 2024, officers were called to reports of a serious assault at Ash Road in Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance.

“An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.”
