A teenager is in a “serious” condition after being struck by a car in Greenock.

The 15-year-old was rushed to hospital by emergency crews following the incident on the A78 Inverkip Street, near to Greenock West train station shortly after 5.30pm on Friday.

Investigators closed down the road for several hours while an initial probe was carried out.

Medics described the boy’s condition as “serious but stable. Officers have now launched an appeal for information.

Sergeant Adnan Alam of Glasgow Road Policing said: “I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact us.

“I would ask any motorists particularly with dash cams who were in and around that area to check the footage as it may have captured images that could assist in our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2871 of February 24.
