Teen suffers serious head injury in attack by masked men

A teenager suffered a serious head injury in an attack by a gang of masked men in West Dunbartonshire.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were assaulted on a footpath near Dumbarton East train station, around 9.30pm on Friday.

The attack was stopped when a woman stepped in to help the boys. One was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to his head.

The suspects are described as males, who were wearing dark hoodies or jackets, with one wearing a navy blue Lacoste tracksuit. All of them had masks on.

Detective Constable Susanne Church from Clydebank CID said: “We are appealing for the public’s help in tracing those responsible for this attack.

“A lady stepped in to help the boys and stopped the assault.

“We ask her, and anyone else who saw what happened, to contact us via 101.”
