Police are on the hunt for two men after a teenager was pushed to the ground and seriously assaulted in West Dunbartonshire.

The 16-year-old boy was attacked while walking along a footpath at The Saltings, near to Portpatrick Road, in Old Kilpatrick at around 9.30pm on Saturday.

He was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where hospital staff have described his condition as stable.

Police believe the suspects are aged between 18 and 20.

One was described as slim, around 5ft 10in, and with short light-brown hair.

The other was described as 5ft 7in with short dark hair. He was also wearing dark-framed glasses.

Detective constable Kirsteen McDaid said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on this young man as he was making his way to meet his family on Saturday evening.

“The two men responsible were with three women, aged between 18 and 20, and I would ask these women to contact police in relation to this investigation.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries, which includes gathering and viewing CCTV footage from in and around the local area to identify those involved.

“Any witnesses to this incident or anyone with information that will assist our investigation, who has not yet spoken to police, should contact Clydebank police station through 101.”
