Teen charged over 'serious assault' of pensioner in village disturbance

A teenager has been charged in connection with the serious assault of a pensioner in East Renfrewshire.

Police were called to a disturbance on Uplawmoor Road in Neilston at just before midnight on Saturday.

A 24-year-old man was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.55pm on Saturday, 6 May, police were called to a report of a disturbance on Uplawmoor Road, Neilston.

“A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault on a 70-year-old man. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
