A teen and parent to be reported after police seized an off-road motorbike in North Ayrshire.

Officers confiscated an off-road motorbike in connection with being used on public roads and land on Shore Road, Stevenston, on Friday.

The 14-year-old male rider of the bike and his parent are set to be reported in connection with road traffic offences.

Police warned that the use of off-road motorbikes is a “danger” to pedestrians and other road users.

Sergeant William Hutchinson, Three Towns Locality Policing Team, said: “Off-road motorcycles do not belong in our public parks or on our roads.

“They present a danger to pedestrians, other vehicles and, in the hands of an untrained rider, can have serious consequences.

“Please be considerate of residents, visitors, dog walkers and the impact this behaviour can have within your community.

“Safer Communities is one our local policing priorities and we continue to focus on reducing anti-social behaviour.

“To report anti-social behaviour or any other crime please call 101 or, in the case of an emergency, 999.

“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or call 0800 555 111.”
