Support worker attacked colleague at Christmas party before being arrested

Leeanne Allen was arrested after 'mixing alcoholic drinks' and attacking a colleague in December 2021.

A support worker has been given a warning after attacking a colleague during a work Christmas party.

Leeanne Allen was employed as a supporter worker at Community Lifestyles in Glasgow in December 2021 when the incident unfolded at a residential party.

Allen was found to have struck a colleague on the face and head and grabbed her by the hair. She was then arrested and given a Fiscal fine.

The behaviour led to the victim being “physically and emotionally” harmed.

Allen was reported to the Scottish Social Services Council who found at Allen had been “drinking too much and mixing alcoholic drinks” leading to actions which demonstrated a “lack of control”.

Their report added: “You have behaved in a violent manner and you caused physical and emotional harm to a
colleague.

“You have failed to provide the SSSC with assurances that you have understood and regret the impact your behaviour had on your colleague.”

The SSSC decided to allow Allen to continue to work in the profession but imposed a 12 month warning on her registration.
