An SNP politician has been charged after an alleged disturbance over a Celtic flag.

Steven Bonnar, MP for Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill, was reportedly involved in a dispute with a neighbour outside his home in Uddingston last month.

Police have since confirmed Mr Bonnar, 38, and a 51-year-old man have been charged in connection with the incident in Columbia Court on Thursday, April 16.

A statement said: “Following further enquiries, Police Scotland can confirm two men, aged 38 and 51, have been charged in connection with a disturbance at an address in Columbia Court, Uddingston, on Thursday, April 16.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
