Six by Nico has opened a brand-new restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

The new site on Albion Street has been hailed as a “flagship” restaurant by the owners who have added the city centre premises to their existing 15 sites across the UK and Ireland.

Six Company, the Glasgow-based firm behind Six by Nico, say the new site which opened on Monday, January 15 will provide customers with a dining experience in “elegant surroundings”.

The restaurant, in which chefs completely reinvent different styles of food every six weeks, joins existing Six by Nico restaurants in Finnieston, Byres Road and the Southside of Glasgow.

Nico Simeone, Six Company chief executive and founder said: “Our team is driven daily by the challenge to constantly create and reinvent.

“We are dedicated to being different, never resting on our laurels, and continuously striving to create the best customer experiences.

“Marking our six-year journey with such a significant evolution of experiences in our home town and reaffirming our commitments to the city seems like the best way to celebrate the next stage in our company vision.”

Meanwhile Valaria Bakery on Byres Road in Glasgow, owned by Six Company, announced in a statement that the shop will be closed from Monday, January 22 until Monday, February 5 for upgrades.

Valaria is due to become an artisan eatery with customers to be offered breakfast, brunch and lunch experiences.

The store was opened in February last year but will be temporarily closed for two weeks to begin the shop’s ‘second chapter’.

On Instagram, the owners wrote: “It’s a New Year and it is bringing a fresh start for Valaria.

“Where do we begin? After one year of learning, growing and listening we are pleased to announce that we will be rejuvenating the Valaria experience.

“Our goal is to refine the space where daily indulgence meets the pursuit of creativity and the appreciation of artisanal ingredients.

“That’s why we’re proud to introduce our revitalisation with ’Valaria Artisan Eatery. Our changes will allow us to introduce our new breakfast, brunch and lunch experiences with the ultimate goal of making your everyday with us extraordinary. The second chapter of our journey will launch on Monday 5th February.

“In order to make our new dream a reality, we will close from Monday 22nd January, reopening on Monday 5th February…we have much more to come, speak soon.”
