A rapist branded a “danger to women” has been given a life sentence after a string of sex attacks.
Craig Gallacher raped three women and threatened to do the same to a fourth during a nine-year reign of violence and abuse.
The 36-year-old also repeatedly assaulted a string of women in 13 separate attacks at at various addresses in Grangemouth, Falkirk and Glasgow between July 2009 and August 2018.
A total of five different victims were targeted.
The abuser, also known as Craig McGlynn, was jailed for five years and four months and placed on a lifelong restriction order – the equivalent of a life-sentence- by judge Lady Poole at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.
She told him: “You were convicted of 13 offences against five different women. You carried out these despicable acts. Your victims who were all vulnerable and you abused them.
“You have shown no remorse. Your record is appalling and included eight previous convictions for violence. The public must be protected from you, particularly women.
“You will only be released if the parole board can be satisfied of public safety. You are likely to remain in prison for many years.”
Among the attacks Gallacher struck one victim’s head off of a cupboard and compressed her neck before throwing her out onto the veranda and locking the door
A second woman was threatened with a knife, punched and compelled to drink alcohol while pregnant and another had her head repeatedly struck against the ground during one of many assaults.
Solicitor advocate Krista Johnston, defending Gallacher, said that he continues to deny the offences.
Gallacher showed no emotion as he was led away to begin his sentence.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register.
