A Scottish chocolate maker is celebrating the sweet taste of success after her vegan chocolates were chosen to be featured in the famous Oscars gift bags.

Fiona MacArthur of Fetcha Chocolates, based in Campbeltown in Argyll, said it was a dream come true for her sweet treats to be selected for the star-studded event.

The “everyone wins” gift bags have a value of approximately $125,000 and contain over 60 luxurious gifts including a lavish holiday in St Bart’s.

Ms MacArthur said she was “buzzing” when the organisers contacted her on LinkedIn and asked her to create the exclusive box – inspired by some of the nominated movies.

“It was so exciting because when I was building the company, and designing the packaging I had actually thought about it potentially being included in the gift bags but never thought it would actually happen,” she told STV News.

The 33-year-old is a self-described “movie buff” and themed the chocolates that feature in the Awards Collection box to six of the Best Film nominees.

The confections feature musical notes, geometric hearts, delicate edible paint splatters and flavours inspired by the films Barbie, Poor Things, Maestro, Oppenheimer, The Holdovers, and Killers of the Flower Moon.

“So with Barbie of course we went with pink and sparkles with a rose and strawberry flavour, and with Poor Things I asked my social media followers for suggestions and we settled on custard tart flavour which features a white chocolate ganache,” the chocolatier added.

Those nominated for Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress will each receive a box of the Scottish-made confections in their goodie bags when the awards ceremony takes place on March 10.

“It’s really exciting to think about the likes of Bradley Cooper, Robert Downey Jr., Lily Gladstone and many more eating the chocolates,” Ms MacArthur said.

The Awards Collection box, which has already been shipped to LA for the event, will also be available for sale on the official Fetcha Chocolates website and in store from February 10.

All the chocolates are vegan, gluten free, palm oil and alcohol free.

The Academy Awards will air on STV and the STV Player on March 10.
