A Scottish football club have appealed to fans to help support local foodbanks.

Pollok FC will hold a collection at their home match against Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday.

The side, who play at Newlandsfield Park in Shawlands, have said donations can include food such as cereal, soup, pasta, and rice, as well as items including baby supplies.

Collection boxes will be located inside the ground of the West of Scotland Football League side, with a 2pm kick off.

It is not the first time the club have made a foodbank appeal, with fans donating to the collection at the side’s match against Kilwinning Rangers earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We believe that Pollok FC is more than just a football club, we are a part of our local community and part of that is doing our duty to help those in need within our community.

“We were amazed at the generosity of our fans during the first collection and we hope for a similar response tomorrow.”
