A runner is recovering in hospital after “collapsing” at the finish line of a 3k in Glasgow.
Posting on social media, 3k on the Green confirmed that one of it’s participants, a man, collapsed shortly after the finishing line on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services descended on the scene, and the man was assisted by his fellow runners.
The event, a road race taking place in Glasgow Green usually on the last Friday of each month, went on to confirm that he is now recovering in hospital.
The statement read: “Thanks to all who took part in 3k on the Green today, with over 100 entrants.
“Some of you may be aware that one of our runners collapsed shortly after the finishing line. We are pleased to say that he is now recovering in hospital.
“We are grateful for the quick thinking and response of many of our participants who assisted at the time together with the Glasgow ambulance and paramedics who were quickly on scene.
“The incident demonstrated the value of the defibrillator at the nearby Glasgow rowing club boathouse.
“The race report and results have been delayed.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
