A road has been closed and diversions are in place following a fire at a derelict hotel in Dumbarton.

Dozens of firefighters were sent to a property on Glasgow Road at around 9pm on Sunday.

Police Scotland said the A814 Glasgow Road is closed between the A82 Stirling Road and Oaktree Gardens.

“Local diversions are in place and motorists are advised to use alternative routes,” a spokesperson said.

“No one has been injured and there is no risk to the wider community.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said eight trucks were sent to put out the blaze and added that two are still at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.47pm on Sunday to reports of a fire within a derelict hotel building on Glasgow Road, Dumbarton.

“Two fire appliances currently remain in attendance.

“At its height, eight fire appliances, including height and specialist vehicles, were mobilised as crews tackled a well-developed fire.

“There are no reported casualties.”
