Rangers have been given permission to sell alcohol in a marquee at the upcoming Old Firm clash at Ibrox.

The tent will be erected in the Edmiston House car park and will be open to home fans only on April 7, with food and alcohol available while background music plays.

After Glasgow city’s licensing board approved the plan on Friday, a police inspector recommended conditions such as limits on alcohol and stewarding, requirements which were accepted by the Rangers board.

The marquee will be limited on a first come first serve basis, with only 200 tickets available, and food and alcohol will be served from 2pm until 4.30pm.

No alcohol will be sold during the game, it was confirmed.

Rangers Football Club lawyer Stephen McGowan, said the club wanted to deliver something “special” for fans.

He added: “Over the last few years Rangers have been enhancing match day experiences for fans.”
