Former Rangers player Jimmy Millar has died aged 87, the club has confirmed.

Tributes have been paid to the legendary striker who played for the Ibrox club for 12 years between 1955 and 1967.

During his time at Rangers he won three League titles, five Scottish Cups and three League Cups and scored 162 goals during 317 appearances.

He also played in the 1961 European Cup Winners Cup final defeat to Fiorentina in 1961 and was inducted into the hall of fame after he retired.

Millar also had spells with Dunfermline Athletic and Dundee United and won two Scotland caps.

A statement from Rangers released on Thursday said: “Rangers Football Club is saddened by the news of the death of our former player, Jimmy Millar.

“Our thoughts are with Jimmy’s family at this sad time.”
