Five vans have been deliberately set on fire in an industrial estate in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were alerted at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, when five vans were set ablaze in Wishaw’s Netherton Industrial Estate.

The fire was safely extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and nobody was injured as a result.

Police are appealing for information about the blazes, which they have called an “incident of wilful fire-raising”.

Detective constable Murray McMillan, of Wishaw CID, said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt as a result of this reckless act.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact us.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who hasn’t already spoken to police, or any motorists with dashcam footage that could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
