Police officer in hospital after two injured during 'disturbance'

A 42-year-old man was arrested and police have said that enquiries remain ongoing.

Two police officers were injured and one was taken to hospital following a “disturbance” which resulted in an arrest on Thursday afternoon in Glasgow.

At around 1pm on January 5, police were made aware of a 42-year-old man causing a disturbance on Kilmarnock Road in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.

When officers attended, a male and female in the force were injured as a result and the male officer was then taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The 42-year-old man was arrested and police have said that enquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a man causing a disturbance at 1pm on Thursday, 5 January 2023, at Kilmarnock Road in Glasgow.

“Officers attended, and a male and female officer were injured as a result. The male officer was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“A 42-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
