Police have launched a probe into an “unexplained” death at a leisure centre in Glasgow.

Officers were called to The Pipeworks health and leisure club on Metropole Lane at around 7.55pm on Saturday.

A 51-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The health club confirmed they closed the premises after a “serious incident” but have since reopened.

They tweeted: “We will be back open at 10am. We had a serious incident this evening (Saturday) and have been closed since 8pm but will be back open Sunday 10am.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a sudden death of a 51-year-old man at a premises on Metropole Lane, Glasgow around 7.55pm on Saturday, 26 November, 2022.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but is not being treated as suspicious.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
